Lordsburg Milk Fund Drive Surpasses Expectations

The American Legion Auxiliary reports a milk fund total of 214.66 to date with prior collections 62.63 and new gifts from Junior American Legion Auxiliary PPR Pythian Sisters and area businesses including Musgrove Chev Co Hoat Tibbs Jones Flower Shop Roy Hotel Motor Sales Co Carl Lehman Cowdor Jewelry Allen's Grocery and others. All funds are deposited to the Milk Fund with PTA planning milk service in schools for undernourished children as of late.

Louise McDaniel Wins Sun Carnival Princess Nomination

Louise McDaniel was elected Princess candidate for Lordsburg to represent at the Sun Carnival in El Paso. The vote tally from the local organizations shows McDaniel with 248 of 728 votes, ahead of Betty Sue Stone with 196, Jane Wright with 74, and Allene Nard with 10. The nomination was endorsed by the Business and Professional Women’s Club. McDaniel is daughter of Arch and Mrs. McDaniel of Bedrock, an IHS graduate from 1944 now at First National Bank for two years.

Stolen 1937 Pontiac Reported By Coursen Family

Elbert Coursen reports his 1937 Pontiac stolen after attending dinner Saturday night at the Donald Johnson home on East 6th Street. Police spread word to stations as they investigated but no leads or location of the car have been received.

PTA Luncheon Honors California and New Mexico PTA Leaders

The P T A hospitality committee hosted a one oclock luncheon in the High School Home Economics room on November 1. Mrs J J Garland immediate past president of the California Congress of Parents and Teachers and Mrs J French state president of P T A in New Mexico were the honored guests. Mrs Alton A Powell welcomed all, with talks by the guests. Mrs French reported on P T A work in New Era Scofield performed Alice Blue Gown with Mrs Jack Lawrance at the piano. Mrs Moselle Messecar spoke on the Milk Fund Drive. A committee of Mrs Baxter Mrs Shoemaker and Mrs Vollmar was formed to arrange distribution plans.
