Super 8 Motel opened Tuesday at 4 00 PM with 41 units and modern rooms. Managed by Harvey and Vanita Hatch the motel sits on land bought from H A Saucedo and developed by Hatch Real Estate with construction partners Don Howard and Jack Gravel. Lordsburg officials praised cooperation during pre construction.

Phelps Dodge Mitsibisi Open 55 Million Copper Plant in Grant County
A new 55 million dollar solvent extraction electrowinning facility in Grant County is unveiled by Phelps Dodge 75 percent and Mitsubishi 25 percent. The plant aims to produce 87 million pounds of copper yearly at about 30 cents per pound and includes donations of 50 thousand dollars each to Silver and Cobre High Schools.
