Hidalgo County Democrats Lead In Sheriff Race And Ticket

Hidalgo County voters backed Felix Jones for sheriff by a wide margin while District Attorney Walton and Gov. Hannett led the ticket. Republicans carried most of Grant and Luna counties, with statewide trends showing Republican gains and local Democratic wins in several precincts. The county issued a two to one vote on amendments and a ten to one bond approval, with official tabulation to be published Friday.

Court House Corner Stone Planned for December 20

Our friend J A McNabb Jr and architect G I Frazer met with commissioners to set plans for the new court house. The contract is to be let November 15 and construction begin November 22. The cornerstone will be laid December 20 amid approval of the bond vote. Frazer recalled applying for a marriage license with a court house in mind.
