Civic Center hosts an Arts and Crafts Show on November 2 and 3 presented by the Chamber of Commerce. The event features a banquet at 7 pm followed by a dance at 9 pm in the same venue with community displays, vendors, and music.
The Lordsburg Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Banquet and Dance on Saturday November 3 at the La Fiesta Ballroom. Mayor Stephen Hill will MC, Dr. Mervin Cadwallader speaks, with many community figures nominated for Citizen of the Year. Tickets are $20 per couple or $12.50 per single, meals by Jim Worthan.
New Mexico Racing Commission heard broad support for the Silver Downs and Horse Training Park as area leaders from Catron to Luna Counties presented data on unemployment and tourism benefits. Officials pledged collaboration on a first-class facility with a two-state outlook and regional backing to raise racing standards statewide.

Treasurer DeFoor's fund from the Soap Box Derby BBQ totaled 315.21 of 865.40, supporting eye care for needy children and related eligibility rules. A zone meeting is planned November 12 with clubs from Lordsburg, Silver City, Deming, Bayard, and Columbus Palomas. The club, established in the 1930s, has a long history and is among the world's largest civic organizations with 156 countries.
