Clifton Trojans Defeat Mavericks In Close Game
Clifton Trojans beat Lordsburg Mavericks 12 to 7 on Clifton field last Saturday. Clifton led 6–0 at half after a first score, then extended to 17–0 before Lordsburg tallied late in the third quarter. Bob Williams scored Lordsburg’s TD and Louis Alvarez added the extra point before the final, while Lordsburg travels to Silver City for next week's game against New Mexico Western High School.

Hallowe'en Carnival crowns royal group at Central School
Louis Chavez and Faye Potter of the House of Traylor were crowned king and queen at Central School gym on Halloween night. Prince Sammy Lehman and Princess Jim Bowman served as runners up and crown carriers. Dukes and duchesses filled the entourage as a large crowd enjoyed booths and a masquerade night. Net carnival proceeds totaled 1380.98 after expenses of 185.64 with funds to PTA projects and tourism courts.

Policeman Drysdale Hurt in Arrest Fracas
City officer Valentine (Micky) Drysdale broke his left leg during a Saturday night arrest of Enrique Mejia after a scuffle with a Mexican national. Mejia pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and was fined $100. Drysdale received treatment at local hospitals and may be moved to a naval facility in San Diego.

Dick Cureton Injured in Car Collision Near Silver City Road
Dick Cureton, whose ranch home lies off the Silver City road, suffered three broken ribs after a delivery truck struck his car at the road and main highway intersection. His vehicle was demolished and he is hospitalized at Silver City hospital.
