Monica Lopez, 18, a new exchange student from Malaga Spain, is staying with Mr and Mrs Pete Carillo in Animas and attending Animas High School. Deer Hunting Season Opens Across Regions with November Hunts
Deer hunting begins in November across multiple regions with first hunt on Nov 2-3. Additional hunts run Nov 6-10, Nov 13-19 in Regions A through H and I through N, plus a D-Six in I J K L N. Unit 29 in Region N opens only for D-Six. Region C units 48-53 closed during November. Earlier rifle seasons occurred Sept 30-Oct 2 and Oct 5-9 in Region C.

Officers Make Two Marijuana Busts
The U S Border Patrol and Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department report two marijuana seizures near the Mexican border. At Antelope Wells a truck carried 84 pounds valued at about 67 200. the driver was an illegal alien. A separate haul 1232 pounds with an estimated street value of 985 600 was found in a false bottom of a trailer pulled by a 1981 Chevrolet one ton truck. the driver was a resident alien.

Lordsburg Enforces Curfew With State Police Help
Lordsburg Police will resume enforcing the city curfew on minors under 18 from 10 30 p m to 4 a m with assistance from Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police. Violations by minors or guardians are separate offenses. a three time nightly siren will signal when to be off the streets.
