Lords School Commencement Honors 1950 Class
The Lords School 1950 graduates dressed in caps and gowns gathered for commencement in the high school auditorium. Dr. A. D. Boston of Newtown A&M College spoke as guest, with remarks and awards presented to 30 students. Mary Altuna salutatorian delivered the address. Myra Kerr valedictorian spoke for the class.

Stroup Transferred to Farmington in State Conference
Rev. Miller H. Stroup, pastor of the First Methodist church, was assigned to Farming ton at the New Mexico State Conference in Albuquerque. He came from Clayton a year ago and leaves with his wife and eight year old daughter for the new home. Rev Lester Brunner becomes the new minister here with family arriving today. Other conference changes include Rev Orbin Turner named district superintendent in Roswell, Dr L L Evans retiring to Roswell, and Rev Paul Hively returning to Clayton for a second year.

Girl Scouts Plan Camp Thunderbird for June Outing
Bluebird Buttercup Red Rose and Pine Cone patrols met at Mrs. Paul Malott’s home to finalize camp plans. Seventeen girls and leaders attended. Lordsburg will send 13 girls and two counselors to Camp Thunderbird for a week starting June 1. Mothers provide transport and Effie Powell handles cots and bed rolls for 15 people. Another joint meeting is set for May 31 at 2 PM at the schoolhouse.

Summer Band Registration Opens June 5
Registration for the school summer band directed by Roge Welles begins Monday June 5 in the high school basement at 9 am for all school musicians and others in third grade and up. The advance band meets that evening at 7 pm. instruments will be provided if needed and beginners from third grade and up are welcome. First Booster Trip To Be June 2nd Lordsburg Event
Friday June 2 is set for the first Good Will trip by Lordsburg businessmen led by Myles Cohen chair. The trip is open to all residents and aims to promote Lordsburg by welcoming visitors from the surrounding area to tour the city and meet its people. Legion Poppy Day Set for Saturday May 27th
The American Legion Poppy Day sale will be held on Saturday May 27 with Legion Auxiliary members selling poppies to aid veteran rehabilitation and child welfare. 500 poppies will be placed on graves in Fort Bayard Cemetery on Memorial Day, while leftovers support local veterans graves and cemeteries.
