Koft Re-Elected Demo Chairman

The outgoing Hi dalgo County Democratic Central Committee closed its meeting at City Hall with a 10 to 1 vote certifying new members and accepting secretary treasurer John Robertson’s resignation. Alan A. Koff was re-elected county chairman with Jack Morgan and Ena Mitchell in top posts. Rex Kipp Jr. named vice chairman and public relations contact for youth outreach.

Lordsburg Instrumental and Vocal Festival Set Saturday

The Lordsburg school schedules its annual Junior and Senior High Instrumental and Vocal Festival for Saturday May 2 at 8 00 p m in Central School Gymnasium. Groups include grade 1 beginning band junior high and senior bands junior high mixed chorus junior high girls sextette and high school vocal ensemble involving about 225 students. Admission is 25 cents for adults and 10 cents for students. The program is directed by Laura Yacamo and Roger Brandt.

Word reached press time of the unexpected death of Wayne Mitchell in Southern Pacific Hospital Tucson where he had been under treatment. Full details will be in next week's Liberal.

Team Members Chosen In Summer Baseball Program

The Lordsburg summer base ball program selected players for Pony and Little League teams after a Wednesday drawing. Four Pony League teams and six Little League teams were filled with sponsors and managers named. new uniforms and equipment have arrived and will be issued this week.

Summer School Program Set For Non English Speaking Beginners

Lordsburg Municipal Schools expand summer offerings with a Non English Speaking Beginners program at Wilson School from June 6 to July 29. Daily sessions run 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. five days weekly to aid pre first grade students and boost readiness for promotion. Contact Principal R. V. Baccalaureate Service Sunday at Lordsburg High School

The Rev J Paul Stevens will deliver the baccalaureate sermon at Lordsburg High School Sunday May 22 at 8 00 pm in the auditorium. The program includes processions, Elgar music, readings, and solos by Christia Black and the high school vocal ensemble. Fifty two graduates will receive diplomas at commencement Thursday May 26 at 8 pm with remarks by W B O Donnell and awards presented by Principal B L McAlister.

Survey of Highway 70 Now Underway Here

A State Highway Department survey crew began work in the Lordsburg area to plan a proposed U S 70 highway from the Arizona New Mexico state line east for about ten miles. Charley L. Hudson leads the crew which will stay about 30 days. No letting date has been set and construction depends on funds and State Highway Commission decisions.

Lordsburg Summer School Offers Diverse Programs For Youth

Lordsburg Schools announce thirteenth year of summer activities including band, shop, driver training, gymnastics, English for six year olds, and a recreation program. Courses run June to August with high school credit possible and priority for high school students.
