Lordsburg hosts the Seventh District American Legion and Auxiliary convention on May 4-5 with Robert Swan as host. Guest speaker Burke Stiles spoke on Communism Menace. Memorial service at the Woman’s Club honored four Legionnaires and the district announced new officers for 1963-64. Distinguished guests from Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Douglas attended. Buck Lanier of the El Paso Times received a trophy for convention coverage.

The Lordshoro Hidalgo County Chamber of Commerce banquet is set for Monday May 13 at 7 00 pm in the high school cafetorium. Guest speaker Lloyd Dodds of Mountain States Telephone Albuquerque will talk on Eight Years to Go Olen Monroe will preside as MC. Entertainment features Janet and Jane McGhee with Jeannie Hill and a Mexican Hat Dance by Evelyn Mesa and Bobby Gonzales. Tickets are available at the Chamber office or from members.
