Balance in Farm Mortgage Loans Signals Recovery

President Hugh J. Harrell of the Pedal Land Bank of Wichita cites a trend back toward normal farm mortgage financing. The Ninth Farm Credit District reports fewer loan renewals and rising lender interest in farm security, with 7 938 loan applications at end of March and 93% of Land Bank loans closed in March. Kansas led with 1,182 loans for 3,502,400 dollars. Oklahoma 2 loans for 1,353,400. Colorado 288 loans for 780,700. New Mexico 105 loans for 212,900. The Farm Credit Administration notes a 33 percent higher mortgage registration in late 1934 versus prior three months, signaling renewed confidence as emergency needs ease.
