St. Jude Children’s Hospital named Jill Cavaliere as coordinator of the Animas “Wheels for Life” Bike-A-Thon set for April 20. The event was founded by Danny Thomas.
Knights of Pythias in Lordsburg sponsor sixth annual Easter egg hunt at Hidalgo County Fairgrounds with 1:00 PM start at Western Bank lot for bike decorating judging and special prize eggs. Coloring sheets distributed to area schools for judging at the fairgrounds. St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital is highlighted with a Bike-A-Thon dedicated to Brooke Simon and calls for local support.
The Lordsburg Liberal and Pyramid Printing will be closed Friday and Saturday. Management and staff wish all readers the very happiest of Easters.
The City Corner announces fiscal year 1991 1992 budget work with future public input meetings. City Hall staff ask for public patience for information. Easter weekend warns drivers to slow down with many children about. Lordsburg closes Friday noon for Good Friday. Municipal Court also closes.
Two more cases from the August 1990 Operation Raven bust have completed trial procedures. Richard Meza was charged with possession and trafficking and was found guilty of possession of cocaine, count one.

Amado Andres Valenzuela 72, of Lordsburg died Sunday at Sunshine Haven Nursing Home. Visitation began Tuesday at Baca's Heather Funeral Chapel with a vigil that evening. Funeral liturgy followed Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. interment at Shakespeare. Pallbearers include Lawrence Valenzuela, Virgil Valenzuela Jr, Victor Valenzuela, Joey Ruiz, Jamie Ruiz, Johnny Ruiz. The Lordsburg Municipal School Board will meet Tuesday April 2 at 7 00 PM in the Board Room at the school. An executive session will begin at 6 00 PM.
Scripture Baptist Church invites participation in a Good Friday service on Friday March 29 at 1 00 P M to remember the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The gathering at 136 E Railway Blvd will last about one hour with songs and praises.
Reverend Ron Brewer presents an original Easter drama at the First United Methodist Church on Easter Sunday. The play centers on minor biblical figures around the tomb and features a cast including Lazarus Art Bryan Judas Iscariot Don Mount and Mary Magdalene Carol Bryan.
Sunday evening at nine o clock a Fifth Sunday Sing will be held at the Church of Christ. Everyone is invited to join in singing praises to the resurrected Savior and an offering will be taken to support the Christian Home.
The Southwest Ministerial Alliance hosts an Easter Sunrise Service on March 31 at 6:00 a.m. at Valley View Community Church in Cotton City. Rev. Edwin Trapp of First Baptist Church Animas will be the speaker with special music and testimonies from participating churches. An offering will support local benevolence and refreshments will follow. the public is invited to attend.
The Lordsburg Easter Sunrise service returns for a second year at the same site marked along Shakespeare road toward the old mine. Services begin at 6:00 AM and are sponsored by the Lordsburg Ministerial Alliance.
