Two Arrested On Robbery Charges In Lordsburg

Michael Altuna and Eddie Croom of Lordsburg face robbery charges for the February 29 theft of two money bags from Saucedo's Supermarket owner Herbert Saucedo. They were arraigned March 16 before Magistrate Rosie Salinas. The money bags reportedly hid in a heating vent of an old Fifth Street church. checks were burned near a mine shaft south of Lordsburg. Bond set at $20,000 each. Altuna posted bond, Croom jailed in Hidalgo County awaiting counsel.

Lordsburg Welcomes Chevron Oil Film Crew In Town

The Power and Light Picture Company from New York is filming two Chevron Oil commercials in Lordsburg with over 100 workers staying in town. The New Mexico Film Commission asked if resources were available and praised local support from merchants and residents. Marsha Hill, Chamber manager, will attend a Film Commission meeting to boost further filming in Hidalgo County.

Fishermen Must Renew Licenses By April First 1988

Anglers over 12 must hold new licenses as the 1987 88 license year ends. Proclamations for April 1 1987 to March May 1989 stay valid. Waters opening include Bernardo La Loya Burns Canyon Bonito Lake with special limits. License prices: season 14 trout 25 50 nonresident, one day 5 25 five day 10 50. Bobby Borrego named Exalted Ruler of Lordsburg Elks Lodge 1813 to begin April 1 1988.

Animas District Approves Communicable Disease and Corporal Punishment Policies

The Animas School District approved two policies in a recent meeting. The Communicable Disease Policy sets health protocols, while the Corporal Punishment Policy limits punishment to specific school leaders for defined instances. Prohibited acts include slapping with a ruler, cuffing, or forcing a child to stand with hands raised.

Blood Donor Drive At Lordsburg High School

Lordsburg High School Student Council sponsors a blood bank Friday March 25 from 12 30 to 5 00 P M in the High School Cafetorium. United Blood Services a division of Blood Systems runs the drive. Type A B AB O positive and negative blood are needed. Donors should go to the Cafetorium during the hours.
