Lordsburg City Council Holds Organizational Meeting
The Lordsburg City Council met for an organizational meeting naming mayor pro tem and city officials. Clark Smith became Pro-Tem Lupe Rivera the City Clerk Treasurer Irene Galvan and Ted Castillo named deputies. Regular meeting day changed to the first Tuesday at 6 pm.

February 1984 motor vehicle fatalities tally released
The Transportation Department traffic safety bureau reports February 1984 saw 38 fatal accidents causing 48 deaths. Year to date fatalities total 78 from 62 fatal accidents, compared with 1983 figures of 55 deaths from 47 fatal crashes. Two crashes carried four deaths, four carried two deaths, and 32 were single fatality incidents.

Old S P house in Lordsburg moved to storage
The oldest house in Lordsburg formerly on West end of A St was purchased from the Southern Pacific by the City in April 1982 for historic value. It was moved to the Waste Water Treatment Plant for storage after a fire caused by transients two weeks ago, while officials seek a new museum and possible chamber of commerce offices.

Free Weatherization Kits From VIP in West District
A.C. Rodriguez of Texas New Mexico Power in Lordsburg announces a company program to provide free home weatherization kits to qualified customers. The HAND program helps aged, retired or disabled residents who cannot afford winterization materials. Lions Clubs in Silver City Bayard and Lordsburg will distribute and install the kits.

Richard Chaires invites Lordsburg residents to join the St. Jude Wheels for Life bikeathon on April 14 at Main Street and Pyramid Village. Volunteers and riders are sought to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and its fight against childhood cancer and related diseases. The ride is dedicated to Terry, a leukemia patient.

Ward Elien Dale of Lordsburg died Friday March 16 at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. Born August 19, 1898 in Waverly Illinois, she lived in Alton before moving to Lordsburg in 1946. She last worked for the State of New Mexico Bureau of Revenue. Survived by daughter Mrs Dale Fletcher, sister Mrs Cloyd Sawyer, two grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Graveside service March 19 at Mt View Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with Rev David Snyman. Pallbearers: Merlin Baird Charley Ray Dale Turrentine Roy Fletcher Jack Walz David Schmidt.
