Cub Scout Pack Organized In Lordsburg
A new Cub Scout Pack was formed in Lordsburg at a Wednesday meeting with sponsorship by the local Methodist Church. Officers include Institutional Representative Lester J. Brunner and Pack Chairman Harley Martin. Twelve boys joined already with den leaders, cub master Robert A. Williams, and den mothers Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Williams.

Local Basketball Team Ends Season With Prospects For Next Year
The local Maverick basketball squad closed a difficult season with a losing record though players earned praise. Coach Paul Promt highlighted W. Smith Don McAlister Raul Az Ernesto Ruiz Emilio Que 0 Orran Fairley Vern Payne Alfonso Mela, with McAlister and Smith the only returnees with prior letters. Several others, including Pablo San Larry Lytle Fernando Pete Ruiz and Bill, contributed off court effort though not lettered. Smith led scoring with points in 18 games.

The Lordsburg High School band plans a Tuesday night performance for Bisbee Band members and needs housing for 14 boys. Anyone able to accommodate one or more boys should contact Mr Brandt at 161K or Mrs Burt Dunkerson at 228M of the high school by Tuesday March 24.

Local PTA Holds Final Joint Meeting Of Year
The Local PTA held its last joint meeting for the year on Monday night March 16 with President Mrs Wesley Freeburg presiding. The council treasury stood at 379 12 and funds may send delegates to the state PTA meeting in Hobbs. Central School led with 32 percent attendance followed by the High School at 23 percent. The program featured the Junior High Choral group directed by Mrs Thelma Ross singing Stars of a Summer Night Old Black Joe Carry Me Back To Old Virginny Hand Me Down My Walkin’ Cane My Wild Irish Rose Jackie Galusha on piano. Judge Marshall of the Sixth Judicial District spoke on Juvenile Delinquency.

The 85 member Bisbee High School concert band directed by James A. Woodmansee will perform at 8:00 PM in the Central High School gym Lordsburg on Tuesday March 24 during a three day tour that includes Douglas Safford Duncan Tempe Phoenix and Tombstone. Admission is free and the public is invited. The Band Parents Club sponsors the show.

P. M. McInnis Dies in Tucson Veterans Hospital
Word reached the Liberal Office that P. M. McInnis known as Mac died at about 11:00 A M at the Veterans Hospital in Tucson after a period of illness. He earlier lived in Lordsburg where he once managed the Lordsburg Liberal. He was taken to the hospital from Bayard by the Veterans ambulance. Funeral details are pending and a full obituary will appear next week.

John Chapman, Director of Civilian Defense for New Mexico, spoke to Hidalgo County Lions Club about forming a Civilian Defense organization. He noted the unlikelihood of an A bomb on Lordsburg and urged preparation as a peace time and war time neighbor policy. John Atkinson Shows Much Improvement
Mrs. J. D. Atkinson and son John David traveled to Carrie Tingley Hospital in Truth or Consequences for a three months check up. The report from the doctors is encouraging as John regains strength in his leg and foot after his polio attack. They returned to Lordsburg on Friday.
