Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority Installed Here Sunday

Alpha-Upsilon chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha was installed at Miss Edith Cook's home. Mrs. Evelyn J. Umbrell led the ceremony. Officers include Edith Cook president and Katherine Richards Educational Director. The sorority, founded in 1929, runs Round Up Lodge in Big Thompson Canyon and promotes community welfare. Unaffiliated members are asked to call Miss Cook.

Highland University Leader to Speak at PTA Meeting

Dr. Edward Eyring president of Highland University at Las Vegas will be the main speaker at the PTA meeting next Thursday evening March 25 in the high school auditorium. A large crowd is expected to attend. PTA officers hold a board meeting Monday evening March 22 in Superior’s office.

Benefit Bridge Tuesday At Woman's Club

The Woman's Club hosts a benefit bridge and bingo party next Tuesday March 23 at 8:00 p.m. in the club house with pinochle planned if turnout allows. Mrs J A Foster serves as general chairman and invites all to attend.

Two tickets have filed for election to City offices to be held April 6. Rumors say another ticket may appear soon and its boosters hope to railroad the new ticket to victory. An underground whisper ties this deal to the truck line group as well. In Lordsburg we continue on page eight.

Railroad Man Killed and Cabooses Burned in Wreck

Paul Hively county fund chairman for the National Red Cross reports a ready response to the county drive with volunteer workers. He notes the current quota is smaller than in past years but urges liberal contributions. Since kickoff Wednesday with fifteen workers, total raised in two days is about $690.

N. & T. Club Honors Former Lordsburg Residents

The N and T Club, Lordsburg’s oldest club, held a lovely party at the Muir home on Tuesday to honor two longtime residents, Mrs. Joe Olney and Mrs. Rose Powers, now living in El Paso. The Beall studio captured the moment in a pictured scene.

Hospital Pledges and a Tragic Train Crash

Community investors urged hospital pledges highlighting the town’s needs and future security. Dee Kurtz, an El Paso conductor, was killed in a wreck near Lordsburg when cabooses collided with box cars. another crewman was seriously injured.
