Landsail Races Pack Weekend at Lordsburg Dry Lake
The Lordsburg Optimist Club hosts Landsail Races and related events at the dry lake bed eight miles west of Lordsburg. Activities start Friday 7:00 PM with rules advisement at El Charro. Races, rodeos, trophies, and cash prizes spread across Saturday and Sunday while food booths and souvenirs enhance the community event.

City Council Grants 5 Percent Merit Raises to Five Officials

The meeting covered bids for a 1977 Honda motorcycle eight city workers testing for water and wastewater exams and a break in at the Sewage Plant under investigation. Mayor Clark Smith praised Irene Galvan for her work with the Southwest Council of Governments. A special session approved payroll and hired Oscar Villado as a police officer starting at 1200 monthly on April 20. An airport equipment resolution was tabled for more information. Lordsburg School Board to auction old equipment at the football field this Saturday morning. They reviewed mini dump truck bids with Smith Ford the low bidder at 16672.23 and Miller Chevrolet also considered. Superintendent DeFoor spoke on muddled 1989-90 funding and completed administrator evaluations. The Casas Grandes system thanked Lordsburg for donated outdated furniture. Principal Lee noted a study found GPA and four-class passing requirements improved student performance. The board accepted the resignation of special education teacher Jack C. Stein.

Eight Lordsburg Workers Attend Las Cruces Wastewater School
The City of Lordsburg sends eight workers to a Waste and Wastewater training program in Las Cruces this week to gain certification in water and wastewater levels.
