C N Morris a Silver City attorney announces candidacy in the upcoming primary for District Judge Division II in the Sixth Judicial District covering Grant Luna and Hidalgo counties. He is a Washburn law graduate 1952 veteran of World War II and has served as a prosecutor while practicing in state and federal courts.
Lordsburg School Board met Friday night to discuss the 1984-85 budget. Dr. Joel Price outlined initial assumptions, expecting an eight percent funding boost to bring per pupil funding to 1540, with current at 1486. A mandatory asbestos abatement was noted, and Bruce Samuels was approved to replace two older buses. The football field at Dugan Tarrango loses soil bias as dirt is hauled in, and an automatic sprinkler system with upcoming grass seed purchase was announced.
The Chamber of Commerce met Thursday at noon to plan presale circus tickets for Carson and Barnes on April 8. Presold tickets yield 75 percent to the chamber for adults and 50 percent for children, while gate sales return 10 percent. prices are $4/$6 for presale and $3/$5 at presale before increase. Barbara Gale will sell in Playas, with new vendors to be announced. Manny Rendon resigned from the Board of Directors.
