Suspect Charged In Burglaries And Break-Ins

Rodriguez 19 faces charges after a Thursday burglary at a residence on Gilson Street. Officers Hugh Pace and Ed Jackson recovered evidence, with a bond set at 2500 on the burglary count and 5000 on related counts. A search warrant led to Red A and discovery of drugs in clothing. The case links to a string of break-ins including a Tire Shop and a cigarette machine theft.

Phonorama Exhibit Set for March 19 in Lordsburg

Mountain States Phone sponsors Phonorama a 42 trailer exhibit on communications history to run daily from 5 PM to 9 PM in Lordsburg in front of the telephone office. The displays cover from 1876 Alexander Graham Bell to modern telephony and TV, with demonstrations of stereophonic sound and a live teleview.

First National Bank Hosts Santa Fe Legislator Party

The First National Bank of Lordsburg sponsored a March 4 party at Town House Inn Santa Fe for legislators and state officials. Host couples included Rep. Martin and Rep. Morgan with guests such as Governor Burroughs and state officers. Seventy five attendees enjoyed Spring Time themed table decorations despite snow outside.

April 15 Deadline For Filing State Tax Returns

State officials warn that the April 15 deadline approaches for individuals with 1958 gross income of 1500 dollars or more and married couples with 2500 dollars or more. Deductions exclude personal living expenses life insurance sales tax cigarette tax union dues alimony and property improvements. Evading tax is a felony per 1955 legislation. penalties and interest may apply. The State Income Tax Office in the State Capitol offers forms and assistance at noon.

Chamber of Commerce Banquet Recalls Legion Hall Event

SPECIAL TO THE LIBERAL The Chamber of Commerce banquet was held March 6 at the American Legion Hall with burlap table covers and decor from the Triangle Rock Shop and Banner Mine. The program opened with Rev. Arthur Shaw leading the invocation and student vocal groups entertaining, as Tombstone Mayor Wally Foster honored several members as Honorary Mayors of Tombstone for their service and ticket sales.

Community Charities Meeting Held in Lordsburg

The Lordsburg Community Charities met March 10 at Mrs. Elmer Jeanes home for the March business session. President Raymond Smith presided as plans to better aid transients were discussed and the police were praised for handling charity callers. Attendees included Raymond Smith Rev. Arthur Shaw Sam Gags E. W. Dettman Cecilia Gandara and Mrs. Jeanes.

The Bataan Auxiliary of VFW will meet March 19 at 8 00 p m at the home of president Mrs Cora Simonton. Election of officers for the coming year follows the regular meeting with March birthdays celebrated. All members urged to attend.
