Wreck Near Lordsburg Claims One Life Injures Four

A 1951 Ford driven by Joseph Sandoval failed to turn and rolled over on Highway near Lordsburg about 17 west of town. Rodzen, East Douglas, died at the scene. David Eaton died after hospital admission. driver and two passengers Gilbert Schroeder and Pat Morley hospitalized with serious injuries. Coroner found deaths resulted from injuries in the accident, linked to a recent separate service-related crash nearby.

Band Concert Postponed for April Date TBA

A planned band concert scheduled for the 12th will be moved to an April date announced later. Barnes remains at home recovering from a severe illness and is unable to participate this week.

Thieves Steal Tractor Wheels And Tires

Officers investigated the theft of two tractor wheels with tires from a tractor owned by Joseph Rogers of Thatcher Arizona at the Pat Ewing ranch five miles south of Lordsburg. The tractor was unused since weekend and theft is believed to have occurred Monday afternoon. No report on investigation results.

City Council Passes Rabies Ordinance

The mayor and city council enacted an ordinance targeting unlicensed and unvaccinated dogs. A penalty is prescribed for owners who let roaming dogs threaten public safety. Read the full text in the Liberal and note the provisions. Support urged for Red Cross.

Maria Torres, 25, was found dead in her bed Tuesday morning in the apartment behind the Monterrey Bar. A coroner's inquest ruled death from natural causes after an extended illness. Mrs. Levi Bradberry returns from Clovis where she visited her ailing father.

First Aid Contest Planned by Yucca Council Scouts
