Heather Begins Work on Lordsburg Aviation Field

Contractor Jack Heather starts construction on Lordsburg aviation field, building an airdome for eight planes and officer quarters. The project links to a planned air mail route and positions Lordsburg on the main southern airway near El Paso. Lieutenant Weddington and Pvt Donnelly located the site at Crocker’s addition, and heavy work including water pipe and crushed rock prep continues.

Tremendous oil land value at Signal Hill lease

A tiny four acre Apex lease near Signal Hill California has produced over 4.5 million barrels of oil since 1923 Marine No.15 No.17 and No.18 wells together yield about 3 900 barrels per day with Nos 16 15 17 18 contributing to a total of 4 150 barrels daily Marine Corp control began in 1923 after first well completed August 16 1923 highlighting one of the world’s most prolific oil tracts.

Mrs Augustine’s father Richard Smith died in Aucon Texas last week after a serious illness. JL Augustine reported his passing to Westmyuster Augustine Tuesday evening. Nine children five sisters and four brothers were present at his death. Smith was a respected Texas pioneer who came from the central states in his youth.

Oil Pipelines Stretch Across the Nation in Vast Web

Sixty five thousand miles of oil pipelines cover the country from coast to coast, having been laid in the last OW years. They move fuel eastward from Oklahoma fields and will in two weeks power electric light and countless other uses. Misses Edith and Leah Hodgson left Hidalgo county in a Chevrolet sedan to Ottawa on learning of their sister in law Mrs Melvin Hodgsons death. They expect four days travel, plan a two week absence, then return via Luna county. Edith Hodgson thanks supporters for her county public health work.
