Lordsburg Elects Peoples Party Sweep In City Election
Warren Ted White led the Lordsburg Peoples Party to a sweeping victory in the March 5 city election. Turnout was 1 090 with White winning the mayoral race 490 to 453 over incumbent Alan A. Koff. Jorgenson Gomez and Alvarez also won ward seats. Estrada retained the municipal judgeship. White pledged to work for all residents.

Two 18-Year-Olds Nabbed in Lordsburg Burglary
Lordsburg police and Hidalgo County deputies arrested two local 18-year-olds after a tip linked to the February 10 burglary of the Western Auto store on Railroad Avenue. Investigators recovered a black and white TV and a stereo, with the color TV still missing.

Lordsburg school officials granted the superintendent and principals authority to dismiss classes Friday to allow students to attend the Regional Basketball Tournament. No exact dismissal time was set while make up dates are studied, and the district will operate a shortened five class schedule.

Council Votes Against Waving School Levy
