Virden school notes report a girls basketball win 8 10 over rivals, a close boys game, and a decisive 21 18 loss for the Virden team. Overnight events entertained the Virden team, with plans to visit CUT. The student body stages the play Nothing But the Truth with listed cast, and the Juniors plan the Junior Prom for April 4 1930 with high expectations and good music. Track athletics will begin soon.

Anita Copper Company praised by California capitalist

W. T. Bill, president of Anita Copper Company, visited to inspect the property and commend General Manager T. F. Henderson. He noted the mile and a half railroad, daily ore train activity to the Calumet & Arizona mine, and development work at ten cars per month. He also praised the electric station and hoisting plant. He was accompanied by Mrs. W. J. Fowler of Los Angeles.

Three Compartment Shaft Going Down At Bonney Mine

The Pacific Canner Company awarded cadet John Gault for a three compartment standard shaft from surface to the seventh level at the Bonney mine. The shaft began Sunday. On the six hundred level a vein of ten percent copper, eleven feet thick, has been struck, promising productive mining with the new shaft.

Lordsburg School Bond Election Passes by Large Margin

One hundred seventy nine votes were cast in the Thursday school bond election with about eleven to one in favor of bonds to build and furnish a new grade school in Lordsburg. Citizens commend the move as the community shows need for the new facility.

Mr Jimmie Hughes and Mrs F F Adair with Foley visited Lordsburg then moved to Tucson. In 1924 the South produced no cheese factories. last year about several factories produced over 6 000 000 pounds valued above 1 000 000 dollars. Two Negroes sit in the New York legislature. The first parachute user was Major Baldwin who descended from a battalion at San Francisco on November DW 1883.

Lordsburg Woman Injured In Wreck Near Safford

A car carrying B M McWhorter Mrs Whorter and others overturned 18 miles from Safford while returning from Coolidge. Mrs McWhorter suffered a head wound and unconsciousness. others escaped with minor injuries. Car towed to Lordsburg. County Engineer Morgan and others assisted at the scene.

Oil Sand Discovery At 1400 Feet In P.O.B Well

After penetrating lime cap at 1400 feet the P.O.B well hit an oil sand and shows increasing oil in stronger amounts than above. Sand is three feet thick with other sands nearby from four to eighteen inches. Casing raised and a water shut off installed. Lab tests indicate possible commercial potential if water issues are resolved. Drilling continues to test the current promising showing.

The Pacific States-Kline Circus shows in Lordsburg for the entire week from Monday March 10 to Saturday night March 15. Advance man Mr Gear confirms a large, family friendly engagement with riding devices including the Lindy Loop. The Lordsburg Village Board calls a regular election for April 1 1990 to choose a five member Board of Trustees a Mayor and four other Trustees and a Clerk. It sets election day registration March 8 to March 18 with judges and clerks named and the town justice named as polling place.
