A chaotic hospital wedding scene unfolds in an orthopedic ward at O'Reily Gene Hospital. Strangers wed in the ward as celebrants ignore staff, with grooms in plaster casts, a bridal party, a wedding march, and patient signatures in a wedding book amid hospital decor and disruption.
The Wednesday Sewing Club gathered this week with Mrs Alton ll. Members present included Mrs P M Chase Mrs Clark Mrs Ben Cochran Elbert Coursey Miss Ima y Mrs G P Jeffus Mrs Tyfield Mrs J R Poindexter and Mrs Powell Guests were Mrs Foster Mrs Frances Low and Mrs Luke Powell who traveled to Lordsburg to visit Mr Powell a brother of the Powell family.
A Monday Bridge Club gathering is listed with attendees including Miss Helen, Mrs. Eleanor Cochran, Mrs. Pierce, Miss Bess Johnston, Emma Scofield, Mrs. Jane Traylor, Mrs. White, Mrs. Redford, Mrs. Mary Frances, Mrs. Louise Bryant, and Mrs. Mitchell. The note references Jane Redford as host or organizer.
Mrs. Joe A. Martinez expresses gratitude to employees of the 1 Mining Company for the blanket of flowers laid on the casket of her husband, on the occasion of his mis bereavement.

Wendy the Masons attended the Wednesday Bridge Club at Mrs Luelle’s home with S. E. Allen, Mrs. B, Mrs. Gammon and J. Rolée present.
Mr. R. P. Barnes announces the marriage of his daughter Winifred Elizabeth to Mr. Fred W. Fisher in Hot Springs. Mrs. Fisher was formerly Mrs. Frank Coon and the couple plan to make their home here.
The Rainbow for Girls held its regular meeting last Tuesday with Mrs. Clara Brown substituting as Mother Advisor. Miss Hannah Sue Jones presided in place of the absent Worthy Advisor, and Miss Arabelle Hill was initiated into the order.
Major Edgar Brimberry and Mrs Brimberry of Roswell visited with Mr and Mrs Ownby. Mrs Brimberry formerly Vera Riggle taught in Lordsburg and is related to Mrs Ownby. A Red Cross talk by Wadley and Harber Heather lecture drew small audience at City Hall.
Twenty four young women with sponsors from Silver City Santa Rita and Deming met the Lordsburg girls at the Baptist Church parlors last Thursday. It was the monthly gathering of the Girls Auxiliary to the Baptist Missionary Society. There was a covered dish supper and a program.
Mrs. W. W. Colbert and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Sullivan of Beloit Wisconsin arrived on Thursday and will stay in Lordsburg until the estate of Mrs. Elizabeth Foster is settled. They reside in the Winters apartment beside the Church of Christ.
The Womans Society of Christian Service will hold a World Day of Prayer meeting next week on Friday March 8 at 3 p m at the home of Mrs G P Jeffus. Members of all other churches are invited to attend and take part.
Mr and Mrs S K Gass and daughter Lizzie Tyra visited Mr and Mrs S H Gass and family this week. They arrived Tuesday and returned to their home in Ysleta Texas today.
The Missionary Society of the Baptist Church conducted a special program at the church on Wednesday evening, highlighting outreach and community service efforts.

U S cotton exports for August to November 1945 total 924000 bales, up from 511000 a year earlier. Shipments went to France United Kingdom Canada Spain Poland Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia with no exports to Germany or Japan, the Agriculture Department reports.

Farm fatalities exceed 17,000 annually with about 1.5 million injuries and farm fires cause nearly 90 million dollars in losses each year.

Wednesday afternoon representatives from Southwestern New Mexico counties met at Deming and formed the Southwest New Mexico Highway Association. Fletcher Bowman of Deming was elected president and Alton Powell of Lordsburg vice-president. Lordsburg delegates included Powell Bowman Rosenstein Kyttom Hall and Pierce. Deming Silver City Las Cruces and Alamogordo have joined.
Miss Katherine Richards county superintendent and teachers Mrs Rideout and Miss Laura Lauman chaperoned 26 Animas students to Hatch last Thursday for a basketball game then proceeded to State College for the district tournament. Cars were provided by Monroe Dunagan Russell Walter Gordon Gauthier and E Ballard.
Mr and Mrs Tom J Mayfield spent the weekend in Las Cruces and El Paso. The brief item notes their travels and locations visited during the trip.

The Womans Club held a social Friday night with six bridge tables and a keno table. Mrs. E. C. Bowman won the ladies bridge prize while Charles Steele took the men’s prize. Pokeno prizes went to Mrs. Tommie Clayton and H. H. Bryant, with consolation prizes to Mrs. Cap Phillips and Mrs. B. Gerard and a cut prize to Mrs. June Redford.
Delta Kappa Gamma Theta Chapter met last Thursday evening with Mise Bess Johnston to plan a luncheon and a special program on Saturday March 2. Members of Morene Chapter will visit in Lordsburg.
Chaplain Edgar Brimberry, back from overseas, will be guest speaker at Sunday morning services at the Church of Christ. He is expected to deliver an interesting message to attendees.
Attorney FE Forrest Sanders traveled to Albuquerque early this week and escorted his family home. Mrs Sanders and Ann had been in Albuquerque at the bedside of her mother Mrs Wright who came home with them. Mise Wright arrived last Friday.
Leon Speer returns home after several years in the Navy and a Pacific theater discharge. He was welcomed by family and friends Tuesday.
Mid and Mrs Alton Donnaly with son Alton Jr arrived Tuesday to visit Mr and Mrs Cyrus Brown until Thursday. The two couples are relatives as Mrs Brown and Mrs Donnaly are sisters.
Lt. George Eddy arrived home last Friday and is on terminal leave. Archie McDaniel arrived Thursday and has received his discharge.
Ronald Egon of Phoenix spent last weekend with his mother Mrs. Etta Egon, providing a glimpse of family time in the area.
Bishop James M. Stoney will preach at St Pauls Episcopal Church Sunday at 4 p.m. The visit resumes a previously announced engagement postponed due to illness. Parishioners and the public are invited to stay after the service for a meet and greet with Bishop Stoney and the Holt couple.
