Chlorine Added Routinely After Water Line Breaks
City Superintendent Alex DeLa Garza explains chlorine is intermittently added to city water. Samples are iced and sent to Las Cruces by Greyhound, with delays causing improper test results. About eleven pounds of chlorine are used until samples pass. Regular monthly random samplings occur after line breaks on Second Street.

The Sands Motel now hosts the operation, with debts to settle and funds needed to supply gas water and electricity.
