Home Builders Win Reduced Water Rates in Lordsburg

Lordsburg City Council voted unanimously to cut water rates for residential use from 50 and 40 cents per 1000 gallons above the minimum to 30 cents per 1000. The move allows up to 12 000 gallons monthly for homes. A Chamber of Commerce representative urged beautification, and meters will be installed with leak responsibility on the owner or occupant.

Man Killed in Hidalgo County Shooting at Deer Creek

At breakfast Friday in Deer Creek Hidalgo County Pat Evans, a cowboy, shot Hobert Eakins an elder cowboy after prior trouble with Evans brother. Eakins died, Evans fled with the dead horse toward the Mexican border. One witness a Mexican boy spoke little. Sheriff Jones alerted and en route to the roundup site to gather facts and await developments.
