Memorial Day Observed in Lords With Services and Remembrance

Memorial Day services under the Rob Swan Post American Legion Auxiliary were held in Lords at Mountainview. Rev Joe Emanuel delivered a patriotic address as Thelma Ross led songs, honoring the late Robert Swan and other soldiers who died abroad. Taps were blown by Charles Crouch, graves decorated, and Mrs Mary J Swan, 85, attended.

Fulton Hosts Birthday Celebration Across States

Sam P. Fulton traveled to El Paso to mark his father’s birthday with messages from across the country. Judge Adrian Pool sent best wishes from the Port of Entry in El Paso. Mrs. Fulton hosted a dinner in the Coffee Shop for the honoree and guests from Oklahoma City Lordsburg and other areas.

Community Public Service hosts Lordsburg band sale

A local fundraiser promotes a Saturday morning sale on June 7 to support the Lordsburg band. The notice invites patrons to visit the office for home made cake or pie, meat loaf, or salad and to participate in supporting the group.

Phil Lynch Promoted to Tyrone PD Manager

Mr and Mrs Phil Lynch visited Tyrone Wednesday night and were told he has been promoted to manager of the Tyrone branch of the PD organization. The Tyrone tourist resort previously run by the couple will now be part of the teaching process under the new management.

Emma Walling Leads New Mexico Delegation at Omaha Institute

Mrs. Emma Walling of Albuquerque heads a 75 member New Mexico delegation at the Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle National Institute in Omaha June 22 26. The five day event marks the society’s fiftieth anniversary with a 1500 member drill parade and a pageant detailing fifty years of service.

Church Night Supper Draws Largest Attendance Yet

The Methodist church held its monthly night supper in the undercroft last Monday with sixty one attendees and several visitors. Afterward W. C. Mearns led old time hymns as Dorothy McInnis played piano, with Mrs. E. M. Brickley in charge.
