A fatal crash on Highway 70 near Lordsburg involved a mother and two children in a car collision with a second vehicle. Observers note high speed and highway design contributing to the accident. Officials plan a road widening project to add lanes and a median, delaying completion.
Mrs Stansbury died Wednesday evening at the county hospital. Her remains will be sent to North Carolina for burial at Heather Mortuary. She is survived by cere who is in the Stationed in Virginia Tommy Who lived with his.
Gene Rutter arrives from Mt. Olivet to lead Lordsburg Christ at 5th and Pyra Y. He begins June 5 after graduate work at Cincinnati Bible Seminary and Kentucky Christian. Rutter has pastored churches in Kentucky and invites congregation to meet him and his wife.
Nine honors graduates embark on a Northwest Arizona tour with The Grand Canyon as the main highlight. They travel with Wesley Freeburg and Mrs. Virgil Craddock, accompanied by B B McAlister and Jeffus of WF Ritter Lumber Co. and the Ritter Walker Co. during the annual trip.
Hidalgo County Democratic Central Committee reconvened to select delegates for the state convention in Seth Hall Santa Fe on June 4. Chairman Marvin Jones presided with Virden Roan precinct leaders Andy Jensen Iv en Thygerson and Alice Martin from Cienega named to posts. Delegates chosen include Rufus Wamel Alan A Koff Jack Morgan Elizabeth Winters Ruby Jeanes Rex Kipp Jr and others.
The Liberal corrects a misprint from last Thursday's Lordsburg High School commencement story. Norton J Lehman, son of Mr and Mrs Carl Lehman, is the salutatorian, not Johnny Mann, and the paper apologizes for the error and any embarrassment caused.
Robert Swan Unit No. 30 of the American Legion expresses gratitude to George Amin of Amin's Department Store for window display space on May 28. They praise Pixie Brownie Troop leader Mrs Eva Williams and Junior Auxiliary members Buster Estrada and Carl Lee Martinson for organizing and assisting the sale. All proceeds go to hospital work and veterans families.

Parents urged to enroll their children six years old or younger by January 1 1961 for a summer school to improve English vocabulary at Wilson School. Registration is Monday morning June 6 and birth certificates are required.
Mrs. Mary Lois Martin 31 of Central Arizona died in a head on collision on Highway 70 about 23 miles west of Lordsburg. Manuel R. Martinez Morenci, suffered leg injuries and his daughter Emma 7 head injuries. Martinez children Paul 13 and Daniel 10 also contused. Mrs Martin’s three other children unharmed. Sam Martin husband in pickup unaware until police found him. O Conner Greyhound driver aided injured and children. State Police Henry Houston Joe Rutland investigated. Martinez car new to Hidalgo license plates.
The Lordsburg School announces a summer band program starting Monday June 6. The plan includes Beginning Band 1:09 2:00 Monday to Friday Senior Band 2:00 3:00 Monday Wednesday Friday Junior Band 4:00 4:00 Monday Wednesday Friday Reed brass and percussion sections will be arranged. Registration runs June 6 to June 10 with exceptions for vacations or camps.
