Memorial Day services were ideal in every respect with Reg ulay Chamber of Commerce weather. Commander Jack Heather of the American Legion presided, the Lordsburg Army Post contributed a squadron, and Mrs Thelma Rosa directed music. Colonel John L. Lee gave the main address praising sacrifices and urging a return to national principles. An ovation followed the conclusion.

Burruss Released From German Prison Camp
Lt. W. T. Burruss has been released from a German prison camp and will be home soon. His family in Tucson, formerly of Lordsburg, reports he served as navigator on a B 17 and was held at Stalag near the Baltic Sea. His cousin Leon Bruce is a prisoner of the Japs and was heard in April. No word on Gene Burruss, also a Japanese prisoner.

Staff Sgt Douglas N Wright a 1942 Animal High School graduate from Animas now Austin Nevada knocked down two enemy fighters during 80 plus missions in a B17 Flying Fortress of the 8th Air Force. He earned the fourth Oak Leaf Cluster to his Air Medal for meritorious achievement and Wright's squadron was cited by President Truman for meritorious conduct.
