Bowie, with its Indian battery, faced Duncan at Lordsburg field in a 13 to 2 rout, and Bowie plans another match with the Bear Cats with the same battery as the crowd expected the school band to play.
Manager Salter has arranged a big game here Friday at 2 40 between Hal Chases noted Douglas Leagere and the Lordsburg Bears. Lets all close up and make it big gala day after 2 40.
Tom Edwards delivered a bottle of crude distillate water mix from the Willcox shallow oil well. He pumped it with a pitcher pump and reports the well yields about one barrel per day. Farmers use the distillate to pump water.
Mrs Ja Egon and two daughters received a surprise Viel from Judge and Mrs J G Keon and Ronald at Tyrone summer cottage Tuesday. They were surprised to learn the mother had been ill. The group returned to Lordsburg and all is coming fine.

The Great Commoner William Jennings Bryan has died after a lifetime of public service. He passed away last Sunday afternoon in Dayton Tennessee after a quiet life dedicated to his beliefs and moral leadership. His remains will rest in Arlington Cemetery, Washington, with Mrs Bryan accompanying him for part of the day, and his memory honored by figures across the nation.
Henry J. Smith of Virden, secretary of the Duncan Valley Potato Growers Association, announced the valley will raise about 360000 pounds of top quality potatoes this season and receive roughly five to six cents per pound for the growers.
A Tuesday afternoon danco party complimented Winnie Davis Gilbert and Ora Fadler, just home from State College, hosted by Helen Chase with sisters Ruth and Nancy. Guests included Mildred Trmble Townsend, Margaret Green, Kona McWhorter Ima Fairly, Jewell Ownby, Beulah Creamer, Nell Gilbert, Ruby and Pearl Peak. Mildred and Muby won first and second prizes. Dainty refreshments served.
Former mayor Ownby, a ten year chief oil booster, works from Glendale California for Pacific Mid-Weend company. He grooms leases and readies the Lordsburg field drill with unmatched enthusiasm and front-row support.
The newborn son of Mr. and Mrs. M Walker arrived July 16 at their home weighing just under ten pounds with eight ounces to go. He is described as the only male heir in the Walker line and will have three sisters.
Mrs. Olivia Wells Miss Winnie Davis Gilbert Miss Ora Fatler and Miss Pearl Peak return from a profitable summer session at State Normal College Silver City. Winnie earns a two year certificate Pearl a high school certificate presented by Governor Hannett.
George Thay and Jimmy Hughes traveled to Los Angeles last week and returned in a Chrysler 6. They visited San Diego Via Juana and Venice and met Malcolm Cammon during the trip.
Marlin Meyers, expert chef, has secured a fine position in the oasis cafe at Tucson and commenced work there. Mrs. Meyers accompanied him.
Virden celebrated Emancipation Day with a packed high school program presided by Mrs. Rachel Jensen. The event featured Congregational singing, oration by Hubert Mortensen, music by the Virden Orchestra, and a royal banquet with group dinners and a noon ball game.

Gwartneys toured Paradise, Arizona. Niccum family acquired a new plane. Mrs Scofield’s aunt and niece Addie Wittig visit Bisbee. Ming Addie Withyhe is principal of Warren Schools.
Last Thursday afternoon Miss Jewell Ownby entertained Mise Jahionie Tyron visiting from Mian. Present were Misses Chase Peak Brown Dailey Vairly Creamer Heible Wallace Green Thames who won first prize at hearts. Refreshments were served.
County Agent Koogler and the writer report thousands of fall army worms they observed while traveling to Virden. The pests primarily feed on grass and would likely eat cotton if present, but they are short lived and do not recur in the second season. A parasite helps control them.
Mrs. Waller Sullivan arrived on No 2 Saturday from Los Angeles with Joe and Hughey. A delegation of friends met them at the train and escorted them to their cozy bungalow on Second street.
Paul Auetio and Johnie Jones took the Austin mare Pauline to Safford Monday where Pauline defeated a fast field, winning by three lengths in a three eighths of a mile race. Pulchers dun finished tied for second and received applause for its effort.
The Howie OU Lease Syndicate reports first well activity four miles east of Bowie Arizona in Section 14 T14S R8E drilling through pink lime shale. Oil and gas shows at 16 000 and 17 15 feet with two feet of sands, 8 showings of oil and gas, and plans to reach thick sands for large production while Willcox well in Section 9 T14S R25E shows lime shale blocks at 126 feet and grey shale at 295 feet.
