Lordsburg May Get Funds for New Sewage System
Lordsburg appears likely to receive construction money for a new sewage treatment plant and interceptor network. The project costs about 1.216 million dollars with 75 percent funded by the federal treasury, 12.5 percent by the state, and 12.5 percent by the city. Mayor Alan A. Koff notes the city would pay about 140 thousand dollars and cites population estimates around 6,000. Fires Hit Ice Plant In Lordsburg Abandoned Ice Plant Blaze
Lordsburg Volunteer Fire Department fought two fires at an abandoned ice plant on Lordsburg Ave this week. The major blaze began at 2 45 a m Sunday and lasted until 1 p m with two pumper trucks and Chief Charlie Walters directing. Only the walls remained after the fire.

Officers confiscate ten kilos of marijuana in Hidalgo County
Police and Border Patrol officers with the Hidalgo County Sheriff seized ten kilos of marijuana from a Dallas trio after a speeding stop on Railroad Ave at 7 30 a.m. A 18 year old Patrick Tate Coleman and two juveniles were arrested. The trunk held marijuana seeds and the drugs were valued at about 500 dollars on the street. Coleman declined arraignment pending counsel. juveniles remanded to Hidalgo County Jail.
