Lordsburg Council Approves 0.5% Gross Receipts Tax Increase

Mayor Clark Smith said the tax hike had been discussed for months as the City of Lordsburg unanimously approved a 0.5 percent rise in the gross receipts tax at the July 13 meeting. Audience member Mr. Shahan urged considering a 0.5 percent reduction in the lodgers tax to keep overall rates stable, warning of higher overnight costs for visitors.
