New Mexico Banks Increase Farm Credit Through 1960 Start

New Mexico banks extended 4 percent more credit to farmers and ranchers on January 1, led by First National Bank of Lordsburg official N. Morrison. Mrs Eva Marshall Celebrates 91st Birthday

Mrs Eva Marshall marks her 91st birthday at Hidalgo County Hospital where she has resided as a patient for months except for a week. Born July 29 1869 in Texas she moved to Lordsburg in 1900 and has lived there since. Miss Goodsell said she enjoyed visitors cards and flowers that brightened her day. We wish Mrs Marshall many more birthdays.

Hidalgo County 4-H Winners Earn District Honors in Deming

Hidalgo County 4-H members won multiple ribbons at the Junior district contests in Deming. Allan Kerr Nancy Kerr from Cotton City led with blue ribbons and special honors for demonstrations in electricity and an apron style. Other Cotton City members and Virden participants earned blue and red ribbons in livestock, clothing, foods, and home economics judging.

Father of Lordsburg Resident Buried in California

Henry T. Cochran 78 died July 15 in Salinas after a short illness. Ben Cochran, son, returned from Salinas Friday night upon news of his father’s decline and burial occurred Monday, July 18. Survived by five children, twenty three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.

Eight year old Knute Dockum becomes U S citizen

Richard Knute Dockum, eight, was among 14 new citizens sworn in at the Luna County Court House in Deming on Tuesday July 12. He came to the United States from Germany in August 1955 to live with Mr. and Mrs. R S Dockum of Lordsburg after a lengthy, aided process led by Judge A W Marshall and helped by friends of the Dockums. He received a 50 star flag as a symbol of his new citizenship, with proud parents looking on.
