Dust Storm Sparks Holiday Pileup on I-10
A severe July 4 dust storm caused a major highway crash nine miles east of Lordsburg on I-10. Six cars and one semi collided, 13 people were treated at Hidalgo General Hospital, with three later transferred to Hillcrest General Hospital in Silver City and two flown to William Beaumont Hospital in El Paso. One vehicle was destroyed by fire.
