The city of Lordsburg sponsors National Youth Administration projects led by Gerald Puller. The effort funds grounds around the new City Hall and involves his crew who perform under government support. The program is a community benefit and aids local boys.
Sunday July 12 featured quiet music and prayers in a Christian Endeavor service. Jo DeMoss and Claude Wood led essays on origin and purpose, with Leo Brinberry on loyalty. Officers named include Miss Goldie Wright president Leonard Brimberry VP Edwin DeMoss secretary treasurer Miss Naot Wood pianist Jesus Castillo reporter.
The notice invites members and newcomers to the opening meeting of the Aly People's Society of Christ Leavor Sunday evening. It highlights Bible school at 10:00 a.m. Lord's supper and preaching at 11:00 a.m. and an evening service at 8:00 p.m. Pastor J. I. Brimbberry urges attendance and booster support.

Delegates from New Mexico Arizona Utah Wyoming Idaho discuss a tabulation system for motor vehicle taxation to be submitted to the National Convention in Hot Springs. The aim is uniform laws to ease tourist taxation and reduce cross state disparities. The El Paso Times praises New Mexico revenue administration under Bingaman as exceptional.
Steve Martin of Des Moines Iowa accompanied by Mrs C H York visited Lordsburg on Tuesday at the chamber of commerce. He praised the town’s obvious improvements and recalled his former colleagues James L Wells and Marvin Fuller from the Scott Montague Motor Company era.
Mr and Mrs Homer Brooks with Miss Mary Jane Brooks and Miss Gertrude Hays toured Carlsbad Caverns for the 4th of July. Returning via El Paso Jane Henslee met Shirley Henslee who is in high spirits and expected to leave Masonic Hospital soon.
Ray Edington has received a third car of refrigerators from Superfex this year. The car was unloaded at Lordsburg last week and orders are being filed by Mr Edington. The refrigerators can be used in town or country.
Percy Brown and his family occupy the apartment behind the council room and fire engine room in the new City Hall. The marshal is on twenty four hour duty with modern conveniences and a telephone for public use. The building is praised as a model of cleanliness and a source of pride, funded as a helpful PWA project.
Mr and Mrs Joe Engberg and secretary Holt attended a July 4 luncheon and rodeo hosted by manager George Johnson of Silver City Community Public Service Company. The day was described as pleasantly spent with generous hospitality.
Mrs. E. Cochran and daughter Jackie and Mrs. T. J. Kebra with Miss Loren Keiker of San Diego stopped in Lordsburg Thursday to visit Hon. John T. Muir and other local friends as they travel to Texas and Oklahoma.
Mrs George Trimble entertained Tuesday sewing club with guests Mrs P M McInnis Mrs F H Singer Mrs Byran Hall and Mrs Walter Boswell in a small neighborhood gathering.
John H. Slye of the Bureau of Public Roads and aides including Assistant State Highway Engineer Burton Dwyer District Engineer J. P. Church and District Maintenance Engineer Frank Scott were in the area on official business Tuesday.

The Pendleton and Sullivan brothers Geo Pendleton and Huey Pendleton served as attendants amid a warm wrap of congratulations from the local community.
B B Blizzard of Jenkins Kentucky visits his brother in law H A Brown a well known ranchman. Brown recently returned from a Blue Grass state trip bringing Blizzard and his family home.
Manager Dee Howard sent Secretary Holt a photo taken of President Roosevelt and party during the Dallas Centennial Exposition visit to the New Mexico State building. Gov. Allred and secret service men accompanied the President, with New Mexicans also featured in the image.
In Lordsburg District Court Judge Geo W Hay rules Ordinance 90 of the Village of Lordsburg unconstitutional and dismisses defendant L C Anderson. The measure forced six month blood tests for food handlers and extended city health rules beyond state authority, noting only state health officers may set such rules. This ruling defines limits on municipal power and is the first of its kind in New Mexico, signaling broad municipal-law implications.

Mr and Mrs M G Thomson and son Gordon Mr and Mrs C E Speer and son Leon Mr and Mrs E J Short Mr and Mrs Ralph M Clark and guest Miss Emily Delle Birchfield of El Paso camped with family at Cherry Creek north of Silver City Also Dickie Joe and Jimmie Fedrick and Johnnie Ritchie who studied at St Marys Academy in Silver City return home for a visit.
Mr and Mrs B T Cochrane and son Jackie with the Boswells and Trimble plus Mrs Anna Wilkinson and Mrs Emma Dew spent the Fourth in Cave Creek. Cochrane attended the Rodeo in Silver City Sunday. Mrs A L Green Emily Birchfield and Lewis Green visited in San Simon Tuesday. The McCabe family and Joan celebrated the Fourth in Silver City.

Gabrielson, chief of the U S Bureau of Biological Survey, notes a modest rise in ducks returning to northern nesting grounds this year 1955 but warns it does not justify revived large scale restoration of migratory waterfowl flights. The agency seeks 2 000 000 acres for refuges with tens of thousands more needed along major byways and in California Gulf Coast and Canada.
Lordsburg and surrounding area saw beneficial rain on Thursday afternoon. The weather brought moisture to the airport readings and followed local picnics with residents like Mr. and Mrs. Charles Conner, Miss Carol Conner, and Miss Laura Lee Covey enjoying a meal at Rustler's Park on Saturday.
The National Forest fire records show the Southwestern Region leading Western regions in forest fires and acreage burned since January. New Mexico and Arizona saw fires on national forest lands. CCC crews performed major suppression work, building roads and towers and improving communications to reduce damage.

Mrs Paul W Brown entertained the Wednesday sewing club with seven members present and guests Mesdamen Charles Conner and Marie Powell.
About one third of the CCC boys in camps in the Eighth Corps Area including Alt ona and New Mexico have left camp to take outside jobs in the past year. Foremen teach equipment use and job methods as part of a camp plan, enabling many to secure skilled work in private business and public trades, with educators aiding academic study to fit individual needs.
A Hidalgo Hotel committee of several teams agreed to start all softball games on time. The first game every Monday and Friday will start at 8 00 p m. A team failing to appear at start forfeits the game. Each game lasts five innings with the second game starting immediately after the first. Local social notes include Miss Marie Powell of Denver visiting Lordsburg relatives and Miss Ima Fairly from State Teachers College Silver City spending the weekend in Lordsburg.

Eugene Palm, Lordburg High School graduate and son of I A Palm of Lordsburg Schools, earns a $100 scholarship to New Mexico State College from Baker Drug Store. Dean Milton announces Palm among four recipients. Palm to receive half at fall term September 6 and half at spring term. Other honorees include Charles Hult, Ketelle Stewart, and Charles Bion, with scholarships from local supporters.
Notice from Lordsburg Chapter No. 21 invites members and families to an all day picnic at Warm Spring near Paywood New Mexico on Sunday July 26 1936. Secretary Luella Clark asks to notify as many as possible to attend with baskets for a community gathering.
Mrs Ruth Willams of Burting ton Washington visits her mother Mrs Hallie Everett. Mise Goldie Wright is employed at the Western Union. Mr and Mrs Harold Scofield spent the Fourth in Silver City. Mr and Mrs O J Moon of Hatch were Lordsburg visitors Wednesday. H O Welch of Santa Fe arrived Tuesday and plans to visit Mr and Mrs H O Bailey for a few days. Frank Weldon Jr and a party from Lag Cruces spent several days fishing on Willow creek this week.
An allotment meeting previously advertised for July 12 in Deming is rescheduled to July 21 at the same location. The session will last at least three weeks to review and consider all matters. Advisors and Division of Grazing representatives will attend. applicants for the same land tract are advised to reconcile differences with BR. W. Cureton M. Ewing Holmes Maddox or Marlin Hoggett.
Harry Duberstein, assistant maintenance engineer, said on July 1 the state took over highway No. 6 from Roadforks to Benson and funding would soon improve it. He added the Wonderland of Rocks road is now State highway No. 181 and asserted every Arizona town has some federal or state highway.
A group led by Gene Pool from the Cooperative Eight Seeing Club of Orangeburg South Carolina toured Lordaburg last year and reservations were made recently for another visit at the Hotel Hidalgo by twenty teachers.
A group of young people from Lordsburg plus Mr and Mrs A V Peterson and Mrs J A Mcleay enjoyed a picnic at Cave Creek and Paradise on Saturday. The attendees include Mines Lillian Meleay Marion Birimberry Bara Lucy Gara Mildred Hill Kay Wright Gladys Gene Malone Hannah Mae Pwan Winston Shillite Erwin Hwan Leonard Britsberry Jimmie Cueto Harveys Stendele Fimner Jones Harber Heather and Harry Thistie. The day ended with a swim at Bautry pool.
A crowd from Lordsburg and Animas enjoyed a July Fourth picnic at Rustlers Park. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Mia and several Dunagans, Wamel family, Lee family, Deaton, Leonard families, and visitors Dr and Mrs Paul Austin from Douglas who later attended a Paradise dance.
