Mrs T Brown and Mrs R Bnsen appear in a vivid weekend feature promoting Grow Pup products. They showcase attractive slacks while showcasing their bold display and stance as passersby observe the scene.
Hostesses for a Wednesday afternoon luncheon honored Lt M Burton Lt G Linn Roland Mrs Eva Braden and Js Gibbs. Red white and blue color scheme and a slogan contest crowned Mrs CF Quillen winner with eight napkins while Mrs Northman won a red white blue linen handkerchief. A peanut guessing contest intrigued guests as each guest guessed the peanut count.
Major and Mrs. F K Burkett are living at the Biltmore Camp. Mrs Burkett enjoys the kitchen and homemaking tasks.
A small group of ladies sunbathe in backyards while July 4 picnic excitement grows. Capt. and Mrs. J. O. Safford and Albert spent the day about ten miles from Lordsburg dining outdoors near a tree.
A nine pound baby girl arrived Tuesday at the local hospital. Mother, daughter, and father are doing nicely.
A ten o'clock Officers Club breakfast hosted by Mrs. R. E. Erisman welcomed her mother and featured guest of honor Mrs. J. B. Erisman in a light summer Bemberg plaid. Attendees included Mesdames Burkett Churchill Balch Safford Warren Elis Quillen Crews Northman Traylor Brown Kinny Stelle Huhes Carp and Tats Burton Linn.
The main event between Mid eet Mexico and Gonzales drew little public attention while the semi final pitted Kuchek of I. I. C. against One Punch Wedgeworth, the Bone Busting Battler from Silver City. This was the second bout in the program.

Miner failed to answer the bell in the 3rd for the 125 pound class. Weatherford of the 311 M P E G Co earned two bruised eyes in the 150 pound win and seeks a future bout with Silver City champ Wedgeworth. Medrano of the 311 M P E G Co captured the 145 pound class in a hard fought decision.
Mrs Helen Holt Fulton arrived Sunday from El Paso to attend her father who has a slight illness. Mr Holt moved to the Hidalgo Hotel for a few days where his improvement is satisfactory under the care of Dr C B Austin.
Hidalgo Boy Scout district committee held its regular monthly meeting on Thursday evening July 1 at the high school. Hon H Vearle Payne presided with Earl McKeehan noting. The group planned future activities and emphasized pre scout programs with a Cub Pack training course set for August 5 inviting parents of 9 10 and 11 year olds.
William Marble Kipp son of Rex and Mrs Kipp turned three and J Lou Hill daughter of Frank and Mrs Hill aged four with a small party on the Muir lawn featuring a seven candle cake ice cream and lemonade. Sgt and Mrs W L Ackerman welcomed a newborn girl at Lordsburg capital Monday noon July 5 weighing nine pounds six ounces.
The pastor discusses a man who chose the wrong wife and faced mounting troubles. He offers a cautionary sermon with practical insights. The Methodist auditorium, with a pleasant Bible class led by Mr. Brickley, hosts the service. Poage is the pastor.
Lordsburn guests Mr and Mrs Philip Anderson host two daughters Mrs Pederson of Albuquerque and Mrs Leroy Goodwin of Tucson. Mrs Pederson brings Joanna and Philip, staying about two weeks longer with Leroy Goodwin and their children Eugene and Phylis. They arrived Tuesday and depart today.
Miss Gladys Whisnant returned home last Saturday after a vacation.
The State Tax Commission and auxiliaries reported Hidalgo county and the City of Lordsburg in good shape after their annual visit. They raised funds for emergency cages but expect no advance in tax rates.
Mrs A L Green, Mrs May Hanner and Mrs J H Clark spent the weekend in Grant county returning Sunday evening. They hosted a picnic July 4 with family from Santa Rita Hurley and Fort Bayard while the Clark birthday celebration occurred July 4. Tommie returned to his parents Ralph and Alice Clark in Santa Rita after staying with his grandparents since Father's Day.
Beginning Monday July 12 the library will be open Mondays through Fridays nine to twelve and Saturdays ten to twelve.
Edwin DeMoss son of Dr and Mrs E C DeMoss married Annabel Hetherington last Monday at 9 am at her home in Emmett Idaho. They will reside in Stibnite Idaho where the groom works in the Broadley Mining Company Engineering Department. DeMoss is a Lordsburg High School graduate attended Stanford and is well known locally.
The American Legion and the Legion Auxiliary held meetings Wednesday evening followed by a pot luck supper at Mr and Mrs J Heather home. About seventy five people attended.
The U S O dance drew a large crowd on Wednesday evening with Mrs. T B Williams at the piano and commendable music. Tonight the program will show the film Mr Dobbs Steps Out.
Individuals may obtain Applications for A books at filing stations and must mail the filled forms with the current fire inspection record and the signed back of the A book to the Rationing Board. To receive an A book, applications must be on file with the Rationing Board by July 16.
Mrs Sarah Simpson longtime Lordsburg resident marked her eighty seventh milestone on July 2 by donating a rice engraving and painting titled The Rock Of Agen created sixty years ago by a famous artist. She presented it to Secretary Holt as her goodwill act and the secretary invited friends to view the gift.
Lt. B. G. Manley announces unlimited enlistments of 17 year olds are vital to the war effort. He highlights Navy schools training in many civilian trades, the chance for advancement, and the prospect of early retirement with good pay. Interested youths should contact Santa Fe Navy Recruiting at City Hall Bridge.
Murray Sprague of the War Production Board warned repair shops in the state to file CMP forms to obtain steel copper and aluminum for maintenance and repair work. The simple form asks for shop name and address and quarterly material estimates. Copies available at the War Production Board office 103% West Central Avenue Albuquerque or by mail and phone.
Boy Scout Troop No. 121, sponsored by the Methodist church, will receive its new charter at the Sunday morning service on July 18. Earl McKeehan, Field Scout Executive, will present the charter and Scouters certificates along with commissions. New scouts will be formally installed and all registering scouts will receive membership cards.
Cadet Bennie Everett, originally from Santa Ana, California, has been sent to Santa Maria to receive flying lessons as part of his training program.
Lordsburg schools open for the first semester on August 23, aiming to finish before Christmas holidays.
Tom Weghes of Albuquerque traveled to Lordsburg on a business trip on Wednesday to meet local officials and discuss potential investment opportunities.
