Stuart Prescott, engineering consultant for Eastern Marine Construction Company of Nashua New Hampshire, visited Hidalgo County with Cliff Sanders from Western New Mexico University Small Business Development Center. Protect Your Eyes While Viewing Eclipse
A partial solar eclipse will shade the Southernwestern United States on Thursday July 11 with about 60 percent sun coverage, while Hawaii sees a full eclipse. Ophthalmologist Dr Wayne Fung warns direct viewing can burn the retina and cause permanent vision loss. Safer options include watching on TV or at planetariums. binoculars or telescopes dramatically increase risk. The eclipse lasts about two and a half hours with a crescent sun at maximum, moving along a path from Hawaii to Central America and into Brazil.
