Governor Hinkle pushes economy in road building by seeking federal regulation changes through a Washington conference with the Secretary of Agriculture and the Director of the U S Bureau of Public Roads. Child Welfare Classes Grow Through Community Efforts

The Child Welfare program run by Woman's Club volunteers reports higher attendance in Mrs. Clayton's art craft class at the Christian Church with eleven girls ages 8 to 10. Mrs. Phillips' home craft class has seven girls ages 5 to 9, Rev. Phillips' boys class draws ten, and the Winslett home hosts a kindergarten session for preschoolers. Mrs. Liday leads a weekly story hour at the Methodist church with thirty six children this week, while 30 last week. Birchfield couple contribute 25 to a child welfare fund for materials. Parents are urged to have their children attend and thank the instructors for their service.

Senate Silver Commission Begins Investigation Work

The Gold and Silver Inquiry Commission, created by Congress, has organized and begun its study. Members include Chairman Tasker L. Oddie and Senators Pittman Sterling Gooding Walsh, with aide Hl. N. Lawrie and secretary C. K. Alden. The panel will report by January 1, 1924 on causes of production declines, industry conditions, flows of gold and silver, and effects on commerce and prices. It may confer with foreign and domestic bodies to stabilize silver use and negotiate with governments toward that end.

General Manager Foreman of the Anita Copper Company returned Monday from a brief business trip to Los Angeles. Development work at the mine advances well with the drift on the 900 foot level being pushed eight feet per day and every foot yielding good ore.

Edwards Manganese Mine Sold to Great Eagle Company

The Edwards Manganese mine on the Gila River near Red Rock was sold to the Great Eagle Fluorepar Mining Company. Alfred Hoos arranged the deal for a now financed company to rehabilitate and operate with about twenty workers. Lordsburg will be the shipping point and J. J. Danziger will manage sales for the company’s Silver City district operations.

He explains the flea life cycle, emphasizes cleaning trash around coops, exposing ground to sun and wetting soil, and suggests treatments such as carbonat e vaseline and a kerosene lard mix, applied thoroughly to reach buried fleas.

Alaska Gold Mining in 1922 Reports Large Placer and Lode Returns

Department of the Interior figures show Maske produced 396526000 in gold and 89392200 in silver. Gold from placer nines, lode nines, and copper mines totaled 230161902, 105227434 from gold lode, and 1792064 from copper. Placer mines yielded 4595100 in 1922 and lode mines 3150609. In summer 07 placer mines employed 150 men, 120 mines with 02 men had winter work. A total of 28 auriferous lode mines operated in 1922. Alfred H. Brooks notes geologic evidence of extensive lode deposits and a rough estimate of 360 million dollars in placer gold remaining in the Territory. Mrs. George Trimble and others plan a Friday ranch visit.
