Federal recreation fees revised for Southwestern regions
The Southwestern Region of the Forest Service published a revised list of campgrounds requiring entrance fees under the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act. Beginning April 1, land and recreation facilities will collect charges, with a one day admission of 25 cents per person over 16, and season passes $2 per person. Funds fund acquisition and development of recreation areas in National Forests and Grasslands across New Mexico Texas Oklahoma and adjacent states.

Bill Griffin Found Dead At Deming Gin
Funeral services were held in Deming for 38 year old Bill Griffin who was found dead Thursday afternoon at the Deming gin he operated. Griffin managed the Western Cotton Oil Co. gin at Cotton City before moving to Deming in 1951 and also ran the Deming Implement Co. a John Deere dealership. Survivors include his wife two sons a daughter and his mother two brothers and a sister.

State Officers Arrest Women At 80 Truck Stop
Three women from Santa Fe were arrested at 89 Truck Stop two and a half miles east of Lordsburg on Highway 706-80. Louise Terry Miller faced Promoting Prostitution charges, while Bula Mae Nelson and Judith Gayle Sutter faced Prostitution charges. All posted $1,000 bonds and await a July 2 hearing. Capt A J Smith, James T Clayton, and John Dunaway led the operation. District Judge H Vearle Payne had issued a prior injunction against Louise G Miller and Dorothy A Smith regarding the truck rest. The latter two later pleaded guilty to keeping a house of prostitution and paid fines plus costs.
