George B. Munroe told about 100 Albuquerque attendees that 1974 was not wholly satisfactory but noted positive developments. In Lordsburg position one Edward Diaz and Petra Estrada contend while Lance Williams opposes Jose Orona in position two for six year terms. Lordsburg voting sites include Central School Gym Precinct 1 Hidalgo County Library Precincts 2 and 3 and Virden School Precinct 4. Animas District shows a two candidate race in position three Van Martin Wamel versus Russell B Richins for a six year term. L R Judd runs unopposed for four years in position one and George Jackson Jr unopposed for six years in position two.
After negotiations, Lordsburg issued 70 million dollars in pollution control revenue bonds to a bank group led by Manufacturers Hanover Trust. Funds finance facilities for the Phelps Dodge copper smelter at Playas New Mexico designed to reduce sulfur oxides from smelting.
