Barbara White was installed as Worthy Advisor of Lordsburg Assembly No 17 Rainbow for Girls in a Sunday ceremony at the Masonic hall. She dedicated her term to the Church and Rainbow unit with colors red and silver, carnation flower, cross and Bible emblem loyalty and the motto that she may remember Genesis 9 16. Installing officers and the slate of officers serving under Miss White are listed.

At a January 12 Chamber of Commerce meeting Deming and Silver City backed creating a U S customs service for New Mexico with Deming likely site. Two entries into Mexico exist at Columbus and Mineral Wells the latter now closed. W R Measday of Deming leads contact efforts and will visit Washington to press sources. The group also planned a February 19 Cotton Cavalcade in Lordsburg and named committees. E M Fisher Jr to audit Chamber books after which reports will follow. Ben R Myers was thanked for his term as retiring president.

A Mothers March on Polio will be held in the city on Thursday night January 29 from 7 to 8 oclock as a one hour porchlight can vass windup. Co chairmen Mrs Wesley Freeburg and Mrs Moselle Messecar lead the local drive with district based workers canvassing houses.Householders are urged to light porch lights during the event to aid workers and donations support the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis.

Rodeo PTA Sponsors Library Program Update
The Rodeo PTA met at the school on Thursday evening January 8 with a large turnout. Mrs. Bob Jarvis presides as PTA president. The program, led by Mr Arthur Blake and Mrs Emma Aller, featured daily routine classes in reading spelling and arithmetic for parents and children. The Library Club chairwoman Mrs Benford Martin reported on progress since the library opened August 8 1950 showing 800 books plus donations and regular loans from Lordsburg Hidalgo and Santa Fe Extension libraries.
