J R Beavers of the Duncan Valley shares practical cotton farming advice including soil preparation by winter irrigation, shallow spring fur rows, generous seeding, frequent shallow cultivation, timely irrigation, topping at half growth, and thinning to 18 inches. He notes his past yield of about one bale per acre and expects higher production this season.
Lyman Garrett returned from a week at the Ajo copper camp owned by New Cornilla Co with praise for the Greenways. He attended a New Year reception at General and Mrs. John Greenway’s palatial home on Ajo Heights where 41,500 people gathered. The Ajo Copper News notes the event as the state’s largest social affair and mentions a Papago papooose aiding the celebration.
Judge Raymond R. Ryan, absent the presiding judge for about two months due to illness, conducted a brief chambers session in Albuquerque on Monday. District court stenographer C. C. Reyall attended, and the session was held in the offices of City Attorney A. W. Morningstar.
Mrs. W. H. Graham hosted the S. and S. Club yesterday afternoon with guests Mrs. Fisher and Mrs. Nat Gammon attending.
The First National Bank of Lordsburg held its annual stockholders meeting on January 13 1925. The board and officers were commended for their work. Directors re elected with John B Crowell resigning as cashier of the Bank of Douglas. Frank Ah Coon president John Robson vice president G L Ross cashier.
Road Supervisor A. T. Johnson from Animas reports cotton grown with natural rainfall this year, despite light moisture, yielding high quality and bringing 824.45 per hundred on the late market. He missed extra pay on the early market due to crowded gins. Johnson plans a larger planting area next season, convinced cotton is profitable as boll weevil is absent in Southern New Mexico and Southern Arizona.
John B. Crowell cashier of the Bank of Douglas attended the annual meeting of the First National Bank board where he was warmly greeted by old friends. The Douglas Daily Dispatch praised Mrs. Crowell's musical talent at a Kiwanis luncheon and noted her two solo performances. The Crowells were also featured as a well regarded family in the city and Crowell spoke as chief demonstrator for DeMolay Society.
In a neighboring village, Mrs. Watters serves standout omelettes and Mrs. Cohn offers ystandard riced potatoes, both highlighted by local cook Duncan.
Mrs. E. F. Lyday entertained the N. and T. Club Tuesday afternoon with guests Mrs. Green and Mrs. Chas. Fuller. The note closes with a reflection on misdirected ambition and inevitable failure.

January election totals show a quiet statewide vote with notable local contests. In Lordsburg C W Marsalis 255 beat B Ownby 148 for Justice of the Peace, and Charles A Conner 137, James W Darley 194, Harry McKeel 131 for constable among a 405 total.
A Community Club was organized in Duncan to unite the entire valley. An eight member board was elected, listing KF W. Jones Virden W T Gale Franklin Tom Edwards York Ben Moffett East side of river Roy Williams Sheldon Floyd Hightower J P Oberholser and J C Miller. A meeting is set for Monday January 26 to perfect the organization.
James W Darley expresses gratitude to supporters who stood by him in Monday's election on behalf of the Liberal party.
L. P. McHalffey rests at DeMoss hospital after an appendectomy and jokes about recovering from other illnesses. He notes he will have had all ordinary contagious diseases except smallpox, and adds he plans to rise and watch his progress with humor.
Harry Rosenstein travels to Los Angeles for a two week rest and visit with home folks. He plans to return refreshed and ready to resume pep sales duties.

The Cripple Creek style revival may return to the Little Hatchet Mountains in Hidalgo County with new discoveries. The Little Mildred Mining Co. and Hardscrabble Mining Co. properties near Cripple Creek are being developed as tunnels and surface workings reveal free gold in milky quartz. Promising showings follow hardships, as the Silver Jack mine near Separ is sold to the Porphyry Gold Mining Company for future development.
The Lordsburg Hospital Association held its annual meeting at the president’s office on Tuesday afternoon. Officers’ report praised the hospital’s management and auditors’ report promises a favorable balance. Board of directors elected includes Robert H. Dickson Dr C P Austin Dr C B Austin Frank I Coon Dr R K Ravens A W Morningstar and Mrs Margaret Downey Morningstar chosen president with Dickson as vice president and Downey as secretary treasurer.
