Playas Road Project Secures Additional State Funding
State Senator John Smith and State Representative Tom Foy secured extra money for the Playas Road Project as the Legislature closed. One million dollars was allocated for additional work from the state road fund severance taxes and the state memorial fund. The plan contemplates two bids: chip sealing five miles from the Interstate to the newly completed 10 miles and a second bid for an overlay on the 10 miles already done, with an overall cost estimated at 1.5 to 2 million dollars. Smith hopes work begins this year.
