Hansen Hospitalized Following Accident Near Hermosillo
Toby Hansen lies hospitalized at Hidalgo General Hospital after a late February accident near Hermosillo Mexico. Box Cox, 24, the pickup driver, died after a crash that sent the vehicle down a ravine. Cox underwent head surgery in Hermosillo and was later buried there. Hansen suffered multiple injuries and fractures, with both legs in casts, and was flown to Lordsburg last Friday.

Out Of Season Deer Hunters Caught
Two men were caught Sunday February 16 by the Lordsburg district game patrol for out of season deer hunting. They killed a doe and took the hind quarters and were fined in Hidalgo County J P Court. Conservation Officer S Virgil Jones urged stricter enforcement to conserve deer and support better hunting.

Highway 70 Progress Nears June Completion
The 62 mile U S 70 project from the Arizona line toward Lordsburg, by C R Davis Construction of Albuquerque, is about 35 percent done. Work on earthwork sub grade and fencing continues as paving and drainage are planned. Completion is targeted for mid June with asphalt laying to start in April and only an 8 mile old road section left between it and the Wyle Brothers completion. Dick Lantz has become superintendent, replacing the ill Fob McNair.

Two Men Hold Up Motel Operator At Knife Point
Shortly after 4 am last Friday John Newsom operator of Western Court was robbed of 61 in cash and a 10 traveler's check. Two men entered the office forced the cash register open and threatened him with a knife before fleeing. Mrs Newsom and nearby cafe workers alerted police.
