Mrs J M Phillips of Separ and Ed Jackson were initiated at the Pythian Sisters regular meeting Monday February 25 at the K P Lodge. Plans were discussed to entertain the Grand Lodge meeting in Lordsburg in September. The chapter charter was draped in mourning for Colonel Willard Holt.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Heather Mortuary for Lee Andrew Jackson Wright 70 who died Saturday after a long illness. The Church of Christ minister Charlie Fogliasso officiated. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. Surviving are his wife Delila Wilmeth eight children and 14 grandchildren.
The 34th Annual New Mexico Cattle Growers Association convention in Albuquerque on March 10 and 11 will feature four national leaders: William Wright of Deeth Nevada, Wayne Dinsmore of Chicago, C E Weymouth of Amarillo Texas, and Dan Hughes of New Mexico. George A. Godfrey says the program will cover public lands, national legislation, and livestock practices. More than 12 000 cattlemen are invited, with expectations of the largest meeting in the association’s history.
The LiberaI reports Lordsburg will begin construction within ten days on a municipal swimming pool at the airport plus a small park. Organizer Alan Koff says funds and volunteer help are needed from residents to complete the project, with contributions by check to CITY RECREATIONAL FUND and a public list of donors in the Liberal.

Mrs. R. B. Ownby entertained the N and T Club Tuesday afternoon at her home. Present were Mrs. Luella Clark, Mrs. Anna Chase, Mrs. Charlie Fuller, Mrs. Harry Scofield, Mrs. G. W. Trimble, Mrs. Harold Rolfe, Mrs. Rebecca Morningstar and the hostess. Guests included Mrs. Harry Wallace, Mrs. E. M. Fisher Sr., and Mrs. John Augustine.
Funeral services were held at 4 p m Monday at the Church of Christ for Mrs. Sarah Chapman Jernigan who died February 23 Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery with Heather Mortuary in charge She was born in Llano County Texas and was married in 1912 to Richard A Jernigan who died in 1934 The family lived in Red Rock and Lordsburg and she is survived by four stepchildren and seven grandchildren Pallbearers were listed.
The American Legion Auxiliary met at the Woman's Club last Wednesday to honor George Washington with a program. Two membership teams, Red led by Mrs. Moselle Messecar and Blue led by Mrs. A. A. Richards, planned a one month contest ending March 19 with a pot luck supper for new members. The program featured God Bless America, a Lordsburg High School Boys Double Quartet, readings and songs, and Cherry Pie refreshments served by Mrs. E. D. Wright and Mrs. William Beach.
The First Baptist Church will host a Sunday School study course starting Monday March 2 led by Rev. David E. Moore. Classes begin at 7 30 each night. All teachers should attend and others are welcome. A book is not required.
Mayor Nat Gammon announced early March work on a new Lordsburg pool at the airport site leased to A Koff. The pool will have bath houses and a patio and may be named Lordsburg Municipal Swimming Pool. extensive remodeling includes hangar repainting and apron paving to elevate the airport as a top Southwest facility.
The New Mexico Game Commission approved an open blue grouse season for Sept 13 to 15 with a bag limit of three birds no season last year. They also reduced catfish limits to 20 pounds and one fish, extended trot line use at night, and postponed decisions on quail pheasant bullfrogs antelopes migratory waterfowl. Deer turkey bear elk trout warm water seasons announced with various regional provisions and permits.
A group from Lordsburg expects to attend a Bayard Baptist church kickoff meeting at 2 30 Sunday afternoon led by Rev David E Moore pastor. Members of all ages are urged to attend. The delegation leaves Lordsburg at 12 30 and returns by 5 30.
Dr. H. Rowe of the University of California Medical School reports eczema of the hands can stem from inhaled pollens in the air during spring summer and fall. The finding marks a first in medical reporting.
