Voters head to the Civic Center on March 1 to elect four new councilors for four year terms. Districts One through Four feature candidates McDonald, Moore, Mora, Craig, Musquiz, Martinez and Borrego with incumbents and an unopposed race. Absentee ballots available from the City Clerk.
A University of Michigan Public Health and New Mexico Health and Environment Department study will run in Lordsburg schools during March 14 to 18. Child examinations require parental consent and take only minutes per child, with parental contact for consent and residential history. The prior study in Lordsburg and Deming found residents in better oral health than many U.S. adults, noting cosmetic fluoride effects but overall good health.
Brigida Arambula Quintana 86 of Lordsburg died Saturday in Lordsburg. Visitation was Tuesday from 2 to 5 PM at Baca's Heather Funeral Chapel with a rosary at 7:30 PM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Joseph's, burial at Shakespeare Cemetery. Born October 8, 1901 in Durango Mexico she lived in Lordsburg since 1910 and was active with St. Joseph's Senior Citizens and St. Martin de Porres. Survived by son Jose Quintana Albuquerque. daughters Clara Aguilera Lordsburg Maria Luisa Garcia Dolores Kern Tucson AZ Joaquina Sanchez San Diego. 17 grandchildren. Preceded in death by two sons Michael Wortiney and Daniel Quintana. Baca's Heather Funeral Chapels in charge of arrangements.
Emma Jean Wagner 59 born November 12 1929 in Clarksburg West Virginia died February 20 in Lordsburg Funeral services were held February 21 at 2 o clock at Bacas Heather Funeral Home Interment was at Green Acres Cemetery Scottsdale Arizona She and her husband Earl Wagner resided at the Hidden Valley Ranch since arriving in Lordsburg three years ago The Wagner family operated the Ranch House Cafe and Mollys Motel She is survived by her husband Earl Wagner Sr three sons Earl Jr Donnie and David one daughter Sherri Day all of Phoenix Five grandsons three granddaughters and two great granddaughters
Graveside services are set for 4 00 PM Friday at Mountain View cemetery for Jesse H. Davis. Baca Funeral Home will conduct the services.

James Warren Worthan, 47, a Deming resident, died in a late Wednesday auto crash on Interstate 10 west of Deming. He was born April 16, 1940 in Whittier California and moved to Deming 12 years ago from Durango Colorado. Former owner of Jim's Western Restaurant and the Beverage Corner in Deming, he also ran Jim's Best Western American Restaurant and Nugget Lounge in Lordsburg and was linked with Kranberry's restaurant there. Visitation was February 20 at Bacas Funeral Chapels with a 2:00 p.m. service by Rev. Jim Prince. Committal will be private.
