Mavericks Close Regular Season With Win

The Mavericks ended their regular season with a loss in the rematch against Colts, as Lordsburg could only muster 9 field goals while Mendova and Carmaignani led the Colts with six and five respectively. The old scorers Maxwell Alisa Paces Morales Diaz struggled to break through the defense, as Paco led with 9 of 33 efforts, and the Mavericks connected on four of their shots.

VFW Auxiliary Hosts Potluck Dinner for District Members

The Ladies Auxiliary and VFW Post No. 3099 held a potluck dinner Sunday evening February 20 for officers and members of District No. 4 VFW in Hidalgo and Grant Counties. Lordsburg Post urged support for House Bill No. 22 to fund Civil Air Patrol work in civil defense with District Commander C P Hoegeboom endorsing action.

The Lordsburg CAP Cadet program expands in size and community role meeting Thursdays at the School House led by Commandant W O Jesse Austin. Participation focuses on Air Science and civilian service with no military ties. Paris journalist Cray Chassagnard, 19, travels the United States by bicycle and stops in Lordsburg on February 17 as the overnight guest of Frank and David Schmidt. He tours a local ranch, learns to ride, visits landmarks, and shoots at a rifle range with the Schmidt family. He plans to take back a complete cowboy suit to France.
