Alpha Upsilon chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met with eight members present led by Miss Frances Shelton. Mrs. R. J. Myers spoke on tact and interpersonal skills. The Lordsburg Municipal Teachers Association expressed support for Senate Joint Resolution 6 to expand the state board of education to nine members and modify the state Superintendent role. They also favored Senate Joint Resolution 7 abolishing the county Superintendent office and creating a county board of education. House Bill 152 would raise free text book funding from 350000 to 600000.

L from Lordsburg dies after short illness on February 22 1949 at his home. He founded Green and White Auto Camp and Western Auto Supply Co and lived in multiple western towns. Survived by two sons Edward and Susan, two daughters Dorothy and Marjorie, a brother Jim, and five grandchildren. Funeral Friday at Heather Mortuary Rev Paul Hively officiates. Remains to be shipped to Yuma for cremation and interment at Desert Lawn Cemetery.

Legion Post Opens New Home on Airport Road
The Robert Swan Post of the American Legion and the Legion Auxiliary held the first meeting in the new Legion Home on Airport Road last Tuesday. A pot-luck dinner preceded a policy session on building use and plans for dedication services with public open house. The LL shaped building will host meetings in the north south wing while the east west wing houses the kitchen rest rooms and office space. Exterior finishing and lawn landscaping remain, with completion expected soon to boost Lordsburg’s community landmark.
