P T A Meeting Highlights Mothers Movement History

The P T A session at the high school auditorium covered limits on political discussion and featured Mrs Chase outlining the National Congress of Mothers history. She traced the 1897 Washington gathering called by Mrs Birney, the 1907 founding, and the broad growth to 42 states and 400000 members.

Safety First Bureau of Mines Rescue Car Visits West

The U S Bureau of Mines operates mobile safety cars visiting mining regions to train miners in life saving precautions. A unit led by engineer F C Gregory foreman A J Martinson and first aid miner A J Harrington toured California Arizona Nevada and will move to New Mexico after repairs in Deming Tucson Lordsburg Morenel Douglas Ray and Superior. The car carries sixteen oxygen rescue sets and modern gas masks.

HIKERS FIND SHELTER IN MOUNTAIN SHACKS FOR NIGHT

Last Saturday Mrs Harbison Miss Murfin and Beulah Creamer hiked across country after leaving the lake they found one empty shack then another in a Palm grove where they spent a pleasant night except for a howling wind that blew them toward town by eleven.

Hospital romance ends in Lordsburg wedding

Mrs. T C Bree shear of Safford brought her sister Henrietta Brown to Lordsburg hospital for treatment. Henrietta’s lover, W H Kennedy of Miami, traveled to Lordsburg to marry at the county courthouse with Judge C W Marsalis officiating. The couple were guests of county clerk R M Reynolds at a hospital luncheon, then left for Safford to await Mrs Bree shear’s recovery before joining Kennedy in Miami.

SP Work Planned on West Coast Rail to Mexico City

Southern Pacific plans extension from Tepic to Magdalena once rights of way and charters are renewed. Chairman Juling Kraftschnitt says completion will connect the west coast with Mexico City via Guadalajara, easing freight and passenger traffic currently routed through the United States. Indemnity funds from Mexico may finance the project.

Thieves Raid Local Homes Reported Across Neighborhood

A string of petty thefts occurred at night targeting vehicles and shops. J J Allen’s garage was entered and a revolver and his wife’s purse were stolen from an inside pocket of a Dodge Coupe. D W Taylor’s car was moved from its garage and tires or parts were stolen from several neighbors. Dr DeMoss, Jim Darley, Jack Heather, and Ed Rhodes were among those affected.
