Relocation Aid Act advances in State Senate for highway moves
The Relocation Assistance Act by Senator I. M. Smalley passed a de pass recommendation in the Senate Judiciary Committee. It would reimburse moving and related costs for property acquisitions for highways and create a relocation advisory program under the State Highway Engineer to aid displaced families, businesses and farms. The measure targets Lordsburg residents facing Interstate Road 10 relocations and would cover pending Luna and Sierra County highway projects if enacted.

Man Hurt by Train Near State Line Loses Arm
Fred Lester Dixon of Ennis Texas was found with his right arm and left hand severed three miles west of the New Mexico Arizona line. He was in Hidalgo General Hospital in satisfactory condition after being carried to Lordsburg by a Mortuary ambulance. Sheriff McCarty said no action was taken due to Arizona location and it did not appear he was riding the train.

March 3 Deadline Set for 1969 Vehicle Tags
The Vehicle License Bureau at the Police Department warns that Monday March 3 is the deadline to obtain 1969 vehicle license stickers without penalty. Police Chief Tony Arredondo says the bureau will stay open until 5 p.m. Friday Saturday and Monday for those wishing to register their vehicles.

Funeral services for James Mathew Brister 70 will be held at 2 pm Saturday at Heather Chapel with Garth Lunt of Pima officiating. Brister suffered fatal injuries when thrown from a horse about 12 30 pm Tuesday near his ranch home west of Summit. A complete obituary will appear in the next issue.
