Reverend Hillary Howell Leads Lordsburg Baptist
Reverend Hillary Howell and his wife Mrs Howell with their three sons arrived from Oklahoma to settle in Lordsburg. Howell led his first service at the Baptist church last Sunday February 16. He comes from a family with multiple ministers including his father and six brothers. he previously served at the Duncan Iowa church from 1941 to 1942.

Apache Grove adds Friday night tent shows to its program. Carl Owner runs the hall and hosts acts from amateurs of all ages with no fees. Auditions open, entrants register before seven blocks of the day. A monthly contest totals a weekly winner who then competes for a larger prize.

Two Lordsburg Houses Moved To New Locations
The Lemons home was relocated from the Almoris subdivision to the Hardin addition this week and will host remodeling before the Lemons move in. J L Martin of Hatch NM supervised the move. Last week he moved the Hill residence from 3rd and Animal Street to 12th and Main where remodeling continues before occupancy.

Accident Costs Lordsburg Man His Life
An El Paso Natural Gas plant accident six miles east of Lordsburg killed Baltazar R. Salinas and injured two coworkers. T Hi Casper of Kermit Texas suffered a deep leg gash and eye injury, while J L Smith fractured a leg. both were hospitalized in the area and reported in good condition.

Jack Heather's Last Rites Largely Attended

Border Patrol Foils Jailbreak Suspect In Desoto Stop
Border Patrol at a road block east of Lordsburg stopped a west bound 1947 DeSoto Club Coupe around 12:45 AM. A loaded 38 caliber pistol was found in the car and the suspect, Jack Harold Richardson, 19, of Springfield Missouri, was taken to the police. He had earlier escaped Green County jail on February 16 at 1:30. He stole the car in Springfield and headed toward Tia Juana, Mexico, before stopping.
